We finally did it!

After years of talking about it and putting it off because the timing wasn't right or we didn't have enough money or whatever, we finally got a dog. We adopted a 3 month old puppy from a shelter. She's adorable!
Since I'm capable of doing most of my work at home (though I almost always prefer to work in my office at school), I've been mostly home with the puppy. My work is now often interrupted by stopping the puppy from peeing inside and keeping the puppy from doing other inappropriate things.
After more than 3.5 years of being car-free, it seems time for us to get a car since we can't take the dog on public transit. Then Jon will be able to bring the puppy to work with him, which will be important when I go back to Ukenzagapia.

A dog and a car?! My oh my.

The doggie is super cute though. I just want to scrunch up her face and tug on those cute ears. (That does sound really mean but I don't mean it that way.) Though I think my favorite thing about her are those huge paws!

Wow! Congrats on making something you want happen. Glad you're enjoying the new dog, but I can't believe you're going to get a car!

wow, dog and car? exciting! When do you go back? I actually just returned from the field myself...and I'm definitely trying to shift my research into more shorter term trips than crazy long ones!

I'll try to post a photo soon.

Welcome back, African Fieldworker! Are you finished with fieldwork or do you have to go back? I'm hopefully going back in January... very soon :-/

Thanks! Nope, I'm done with the fieldwork component, now its off to the lab. Wow, you're going back soon then! Will probably go back to do something with a field school in my area this summer though, but will be a short trip.

Wonderful! Congratulations! I'm holding out for the day I feel I'm capable of having a dog, too. Give her lots of kisses!
