A...Thanks for the encouragement, Alyssa and Megan!

AF, there actually is a question regarding the timing of my proposed start date that I would feel evasive answering without mentioning that I'm going to have a baby, although they couldn't possibly know that when they ask (perhaps they won't ask, but I think they will ask if I can start sooner). I know they can't ask about my reproductive and marital status and I don't have to tell, but I think that I will be more comfortable if I do, and if they don't hire me because of it then I would not want to work for them anyways.

If they do offer me the position, I will need to do extensive research and questioning to decide if I can actually take it. There are many, many, many things to consider, and the baby is only one of them.Karinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16757213778638431428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2206220894855898230.post-13799721974365806212013-04-15T14:43:21.733-07:002013-04-15T14:43:21.733-07:00I would not tell them you are pregnant, unless you...I would not tell them you are pregnant, unless you will be visiting and visibly pregnant. Women face a lot of conscious and unconscious discrimination- it is none of their business and is illegal to ask about anyway. There is no "natural" way for it to come up in an interview; it is ILLEGAL to ask you about kids or marital status. Tell them when you have the offer.African Fieldworkernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2206220894855898230.post-89167719339235455682013-04-15T14:41:10.419-07:002013-04-15T14:41:10.419-07:00Good luck! I think if it comes up in conversation naturally, and you talk about your plans, it should be totally fine.
